Stuck? Here are 5 funny ways to Re-power Your Confidence
Is the daily grind of life getting you down? Are you tired of doing the same old things, in the same old pattern, at the same old place, every day of your life?
If you are living in a regular pattern and according to a tired timetable, you may be asking questions like, “Where am I heading?” or “Is this all there is to life?” And yet, you find yourself unwilling to change, preferring instead to stick to what you know.
Well, the truth is that you may be getting too comfortable in, well, your comfort zone. And unfortunately, this can be extremely detrimental to your feelings of self-worth and self-confidence.
If the above describes you to a point, then it’s time to break out of the mold, and inject some much needed enthusiasm and confidence into your life. Here are 5 great, fun ways to do just that!
Join a Public Speaking Class
Enroll for a drama class or a poetry recital class. Not only will this give you something new and exciting to do every week, but learning to speak in front of total strangers will boost your confidence and ability to convey messages. This will transfer over to your conduct in the workplace, giving you greater assurance in presenting your ideas and elucidating your superiors.
Take yourself to new places
This can be something simple like taking a different road home from work, shopping at a new mall or supermarket or even going on vacation to somewhere you’ve never. You can even move to a new apartment or upgrade your car, if you can afford it. Putting yourself in new situations will challenge your perceptions, and not only will you realize new things about your old habits, but will start seeing things from a new point of view.
Join a club
It could be a book reading club, a Tupperware club, the neighborhood watch, or anything you’d like. The challenge is to be able to meet new strangers and work with them. You’ll notice and learn new things about yourself and about the theme of the club you’ve joined, plus increase your business and personal contacts.
Learn a new sport
This is a great one! By the time they hit thirty, many people stop learning new sports, and often stop playing the old ones too! But there’s nothing like exercise and sport to build confidence and teamwork to foster camaraderie. Plus learning something that you never thought you would learn will go a long way towards building the “I can do anything!” mentality that is so important in life.
Volunteer at a charity
There are tons of charities in almost any city. Pick one, and volunteer once a week. The joy and appreciation you will see on the faces of the people you meet will literally be ‘Chicken Soup for your Soul’! And spending time with those less fortunate, or with those reaching the twilight of their lives, will make you take a closer look at your own. Maybe it’s time you start living more of your life before it’s too late?
Ultimately the best way to get out of a rut is to start being more spontaneous. Start doing new things, different things. Accept invitations where before you may have rejected them.
Living a life full of vibrancy and spontaneity is the best present you can give yourself. You’ll be a more assertive, more confident and a happier person.
